Balanced Scorecard is not a new type of dashboards allowing the measure of other areas apart the only financial perspective. Even though it is a component of Balanced Scorecard, it is not at this level that we must seek the originality of the method.
All the major players of the company who have addressed the issues of control and dashboards over the past 25 years have naturally led to the same conclusion.

Balanced Scorecard Is...

The originality of the BSC is different. Balanced Scorecard provides a new way of management of the company.
This new management is based on the establishment of a rigorous framework for the development and deployment of the strategy which is guaranteed by the permanent balance of the four perspectives. This is to highlight and control the cause-and-effect relationship.

Therein lies the real key to the method. Performance evaluation is performed using scorecards, and the managers' remuneration is directly tied to the expressed performance.
